Two players each secretly place five ships on their own 10×10 grid: a Carrier (5 squares), a Battleship (4), a Cruiser (3), a Submarine (3) and a Destroyer (2) — 17 squares in total, laid horizontally or vertically without overlapping. Players then alternate firing one shot per turn at coordinates on the enemy grid. A shot is announced as a hit or a miss; when every square of a ship has been hit, that ship is sunk. Sink all five enemy ships to win.
